« The officers commanding the 43rd and 85th regiments having represented in strong terms your praised worthy exertions in rendering assistance, and providing accommodation for their respective corps on their late arduous march from Fredericton to Quebec, I am directed by His Excellency Lieutenant General Sir John Colborne, to convey to you the expression of his thanks for your valuable services on the occasions to which I have adverted, and to request that you will continue to assist the other divisions of troops that are expected by New-Brunswick by the same route.
