the law of last session is now vacant and I take the means of ascertaining how far it might be agreable to you to fill it. The honorable Mr Wm. Robinson is appointed first Commissary and it is very desirable that a gentleman of capacity and one well acquainted with the many objects requiring attention in the Eastern Section of the Province should be associated. With this view I am desirous of ascertaining your wishes for the information of the Government prior to making you an offer of the appointment officially. Should you be disposed to accept the office, I would suggest your immediately proceeding to this place, if you can do so conveniently, when any further explanation you may desire can be given. — Your early reply would oblige. »
