honour certainly altogether removes him from the company in which we placed him. We meant merely to condemn an appointment which, as it appears to us, was made because of Mr. Casgrain’s french name rather than for any fitness of office. For that gentleman, we entertain the highest respect, and should extremely regret any remark of ours which could cause him pain. »
