PUCHAMIAS, s. m. (Botan. exot.) nom vulgaire aux Indes d’un arbre de la Virginie, qui porte un fruit rouge semblable à la nêfle, fort astringent lorsqu’il n’est pas mûr, mais excellent dans sa maturité. C’est le mespilus aculeata, pyrifolia, denticulata, splendens, fructu insigni rutilo, virginiensis, Plukn. Phytog. nommé communément en anglois, the Virginian azarol with red fruit.
