il garda longtemps chez lui la cassette qui lui avait servi autrefois. Sa conversation comme son caractère étaient très-enjoués. L’isolement où il se trouvait à la campagne n’offrant à son amour pour la société qu’un cercle bien restreint, lui faisait rechercher avec avidité la compagnie de ses amis et même des étrangers qu’il invitait à sa table le plus souvent qu’il pouvait. Un officier anglais qui avait reçu l’hospitalité chez votre grand-père en 1816, raconte ainsi les impressions de sa visite :
