Le second certificat que nous avons à produire est de M. Mercier, curé de St. -Martin, du capitaine Bélanger, de deux Messieurs Parizeau de la même paroisse, très connus par leur loyauté. Il est conçu en ces termes : —
" Nous soussignés, certifions que nous avons vu un
- grand nombre d’habitans de St-Eustache, au moins
" trois cents cinquante à quatre cents, répandus dans " notre paroisse, fuyant la rébellion que les gens de St- " Jérôme, de St-Benoît, de Ste-Scholastique et quelques " rebelles de St-Eustache exerçaient dans le village de
- ’ St-Eustache. Outre un certain nombre de citoyens de
" cette paroisse retirés à Montréal, nous avons vu les " capitaines Eustache Cheval, Julien Choquet, Maxime " Globensky et Gabriel Lefebvre commandant des volon- " taires de leur paroisse et d’autre part.
