Comme j’examinais cette question, je me souvins que Vitalis m’avait dit qu’à la guerre quand un régiment était fatigué par une longue marche, on faisait jouer la musique, si bien qu’en entendant des airs gais ou entraînants, les soldats oubliaient leurs fatigues.
Si je jouais un air gai, peut-être oublierions-nous tous notre faim ; en tous cas étant occupé à jouer et les chiens à danser avec Joli-Cœur, le temps passerait plus vite pour nous.
Je pris ma harpe, qui était posée contre un arbre, et tournant le dos au canal, après avoir mis mes comédiens en position, je commençai à jouer un air de danse, puis après une valse.
