Be it remembered that on this 23rd day of May, A. D. 1835, and of the Independence of the United States of America the 59th year. Madame Leiris of the said District has deposited in this office the title of a Book, the right whereof she claims as authoress, in the words and figures following : to wit. « L’Histoire des États Unis racontée aux Enfans. Ouvrage instructif et amusant, entrecoupé de nombreuses anecdotes. Traduit librement de l’Anglais par Mad. Leiris Institutrice a la Nouvelle-Orléans. Se trouve chez l’Auteur Rue Bienville entre Bourgogne et Remparts et chez E. Johns & Co. Nouvelle-Orléans, Imprimé par E. Johns & Co. Rue de Chartres, No. 87, 1835. »
In conformity with the act of the Congress of the United States entitled “an act for the encouragement of learning by securing the copies of maps, charts and books to the authors and proprietors of such copies during the times therein mentioned and also to the act entitled an act supplementary to an act entitled an act for the encouragement of learning by securing the copies of maps, charts and books to the authors and proprietors of such copies during the times therein mentioned and extending the benefits thereof to the arts of designing, engraving and etching historical and other prints.”
